You Control Tunes is a small app that allows you to control iTunes. It allows you to do this by giving you access to iTunes without having to switch away from what you are currently doing. You Control Tunes is activated by a keyboard hotkey. When you press this hotkey (or combination of keys), a small menu will appear that allows you to carry out different tasks. For example, you can pause, play, stop, go to the next or previous song, increase or decrease the volume, or toggle on or off the shuffle feature. These are just some of the many things you can do from this menu. You can also rate songs, launch iTunes, and access any song by either looking for it by name, genre, or artist. There is support for playlists as well. When a song has artwork available, it will be displayed in the menu. Whenever a new song plays, a small pop-up will appear telling you the name of the song. It will also appear on the menu bar on the top of your screen, along with some controls.

Although you can control iTunes to some extent with your keyboard function keys, this menu allows you to do a lot more. It is very responsive and it worked great out-of-the-box for me. I might even keep it installed, although I don't really listen to music much.
