UnRAR Free is more than its name suggests. Besides allowing you to extract RAR files on your computer, this application also helps you decompress ZIP, 7Z or TAR archives. Furthermore, you can use it to compress documents into ZIP archives with just a few clicks.

The main window of the utility comes with two buttons: one for importing archives from your local folders and another for selecting files for compression. This app doesn't require a help guide as it's very intuitive and has simple-to-configure compression and extraction settings.

In my testing, the program worked flawlessly. It immediately extracted a RAR files and compressed 10 digital pictures into an archive file.

Still, an important disadvantage is the fact that it lets you export archive files to only one format: ZIP. You can find many other archive utilities that support more than one format when it comes to compressing files.

Cutting a long story short, you can install this free program on your Mac only if the aforementioned flaw doesn't mean much to you. It's simple to handle, helps you extract various types of archive files, and immediately completes its tasks.
