The Journey Down: Chapter One is a point-and-click adventure game that will surely please those players who seek a good storyline in a game. What makes the game narrative so amusing is not only the interesting plot, but also a plenty of tricky situations and intriguing character connections. Anyway, the captivating storyline is not the only advantage of this game. There are many other cool things about it. For example, I liked the voice acting a lot, especially the one done for the main character, Bwana. Even though I still can’t tell if his accent was African or Jamaican, it surely was exotic enough to catch my attention. The writing is also really good, as many dialogues are packed with wit and humor that make following the story even more pleasing.

Another nice thing about The Journey Down: Chapter One is the soundtrack. Though a bit simplistic, it is relaxing and fits perfectly into the overall atmosphere. The graphics are also really nice. Though not technologically intricate or impressively advanced, their artistic value is undeniable. The Black African theme is surely original. As for the puzzles typical to any point-and-click game, the ones of The Journey Down: Chapter One are rather simple and easy. You won’t get to the point of having to tear your hair out trying to solve them, but this also doesn’t mean they are ridiculously easy. They are, let’s say, accessible. The only thing more likely to disappoint about this game is the fact that it’s quite short. Finishing this first chapter of the story shouldn’t take more than 3 hours to anyone. But these hours will surely be entertaining and spent in a manner that won’t bring absolutely any regrets.
