Info updated on:

Smallpdf is a complex application that covers most PDF managing needs. Therefore, the tool offers multiple features, such as reading, splitting, and merging PDFs, compressing and converting into and from most common Office documents and image files, encrypting and removing file protection.

All module-like functions are conveniently placed on the main window for easy access. Once a feature is selected, you just need to load the PDF file you wish to process, make the necessary adjustments, and enable that feature. Unfortunately, the program doesn't remember the file you imported on a previous module. When selecting a new module, the program asks for loading the file once again. Options like rotating, deleting, splitting, and extracting pages from a large document are gathered into the Reader module. The tool has also conversion abilities, so you can turn your PDFs into editable documents, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint formats. Converting PDFs into images is also supported. Therefore, you can export your files to JPEG, JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, and TIFF. Yet, the utility lacks the ability to make image quality adjustments.

All in all, Smallpdf is a handy PDF manager, with various features that satisfy common PDF-related needs. Yet, there is room for some improvements so the app can meet most exigent user requirements.
