Info updated on:

Scribus is a professional desktop publishing platform designed to help you create high quality page layouts for Windows, Linux along with Mac systems. The application doesn't benefit from a glamorous interface design that can compete with its high-profile competition but makes it all up with an impressive range of features. With this tool you will be able to create anything from credit card layouts to book cover designs.

Scribus is well documented; it includes a rich set of tutorials, textual as well as video guides for creating simple as well as complex layouts. That, along with the built-in templates made it very easy to get started and understand how the application works. Among most tasks performed, working with text content was challenging until I discovered the highly capable editor that Scribus possesses.

In terms of graphics capabilities, the utility supports a generous range of image formats (vector graphics included).

Scribus will best serve the advanced user in most cases thanks to its flexibility but its intuitive design, controls and community support will definitely appeal to a novice user as well.
