R for Mac OS X is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. It is a GNU project that is based on the S language and environment created by John Chambers and his team at Bell Laboratories (formerly AT&T, now Lucent Technologies). R provides a wide range of statistical capabilities, including linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, and bioinformatics.
