Info updated on:

MKV to Any Lite is intended to transcode Matroska video files to other formats. The application has a straightforward interface, so it is unlikely that you have any difficulty using it. Luckily, the app’s workflow is perfectly reflected in its layout: importing source clips, picking an output format and proceeding to convert.

Fortunately, the tool supports importing multiple files in a single session, which can save a lot of time and effort. It is excellent news that there is a long list of target presets to choose from. Thus, you do not need to worry about compatibility issues, since most of presets are properly identified with the names of their supporting devices. Likewise, it is possible to use customized profiles.

The application allows extracting specific streams when the source files contain more than one. In this respect, you can choose the desired audio and video tracks as well as subtitles. Regrettably, this tool does not support any of the basic editing features typically found in other apps of its type.

All in all, MKV to Any Lite does a good job in making video files originally in MKV format playable on other devices that do not readily support them. Its main weakness is the lack of editing features. The product is available for free from the Mac Store.
