Master of Typing - Learn to Type in Chinese is an application that lets you practice touch typing in Chinese using all ten fingers. The courses are sorted into four competency levels: beginner, amateur, professional, and expert. Each course includes five lessons with various exercises to help you master the typing technique.
Once you open the program, a small wizard informs you with suggestive images about your correct posture in front of the computer and the position of your hands over the keyboard. Three different themes are offered for selection, so you can enjoy the most convenient appearance. The keyboard has attractive color-based schemes for better memorizing the position of the keys. Once you are familiar with the interface, you can start your first lesson. The characters you are asked to type will be colored in green if typed correctly, and, respectively, in red if you mistype them. You can check your progress in real time, simply by looking at the icon-like representations of your typing speed, the elapsed time on the current typing task, and the percentage of your typing accuracy, all in the main window. Detailed graphics of your progress can be accessed from the menu bar.
In short, this application is designed to help you achieve proficiency in typing Pinyin. Yet, it is advisable to apply for the pro version of Master of Typing - Learn to Type in Chinese, since the free edition won't let you practice typing the most common Chinese words and special characters. Furthermore, completing the course with an exam can only be done once you've purchased a license.
