MakeMKV is a program that enables Mac users to convert movies from their DVDs, Blu-Rays or local directories to the MKV format. You can also use this utility to burn MKV files to DVDs or Blu-Rays. The application preserves the quality of the input videos, offers you detailed information regarding the clips you import, and converts movies in minimum time.

After you import the movie you wish to convert, the application lets you choose the preferred destination folder. You can find additional output settings in the Preferences menu. For example, the program lets you select the proper DVD structure protection removal method, read buffer size, etc. Some users might find it difficult to configure the aforementioned settings according to their needs if they have minimum video editing knowledge.

The utility immediately converts the imported files, without slowing down your computer.

Personally, I didn't like working with this program. Its interface is unappealing and the application lacks any video editing options (attach subtitles, trim videos, etc.). Furthermore, the application supports a very small amount of input formats (DVDs, Blu-Rays, MKV, and ISO). So, it doesn't offer you support for popular video formats like MP4, AVI, MOV or FLV. Furthermore, you cannot convert multiple videos at the same time.

With that being said, you can find better solutions for converting movies to MKV format and vice versa on your Mac.
