MacFamilyTree is a genealogy program developed for Mac users who wish to build a virtual family tree with ease. The application is packed with an efficient search tool to help you immediately find the missing family info you need, provides you with detailed reports based on the stored information and lets you add various types of details to any member of your family.
In my testing, I loaded a sample file which was created by the developer. Every family member relationship was nicely presented and you can easily add new ones, modify the stored details or delete the profile of a person. You can attach various details to your family members, from relationships (father of, daughter of, stepson of, etc.) and information about their birth to physical attributes (eye color, height, etc.) or to-dos.
All of the stored information is saved in a database file. You can configure the program to automatically save the document at a defined interval of time (the option is available in the Preferences panel of the utility). The app also enables you to export the stored info to a GEDCOM file (a plain text document that contains genealogical information about individuals). This feature comes in handy if you want to share the resulting virtual family tree with other people.
Another great aspect of this program is the fact that it provides you with a powerful search tool which helps you quickly find the missing info you need about your family members. The integrated help manual might also come in handy if you require assistance while building your family tree.
Even though it might seem a bit expensive, I still think it's worth giving it a try on your Mac. It gives you access to a wide range of useful features and works 100%.
