GoldMosh offers an easy and convenient solution to produce glitch art by distorting images of a selected video file. You may work with recordings stored on your computer or with clips uploaded to YouTube.

The program is easy to use, mainly because it places all frame-compressing options and image-alteration features on the main window. However, the blazing green color of the instructions, in contrast with a complete dark background, may tire your eyes if you use the tool for long.

The video file you intend to corrupt can be either imported from your computer movie library or ripped directly from YouTube. No matter what source you choose, first you need to remove the video you have been working on previously – its trace doesn't disappear automatically when the alteration session is over, and the program doesn't support loading multiple files. Once the new video has been added to the program, you can play it back in order to count the video frames and identify the scene from where you wish to start the editing process.

Also, the tool provides four datamoshing effects that will help you create artistic artifacts in your digital video recording. Thus, the bloom effect repeats a frame multiple times, while the looping feature plays the file back from the beginning. Furthermore, a slow bloom playback effect is provided to repeat a video frame while advancing to the next frame at a speed you determine. You can also create collage-like artifacts by playing the video frames randomly. To datamosh your video faster and with a professional touch, you can make use of keyboard shortcuts to control and enable the effects.

With a simple, yet not very attractive appearance, GoldMosh is designed to create abstract and unique video effects, known as glitch art. The program produces intended image distortions, meant to surprise the audience with their unpredicted occurrences. However, the program is not as good as expected – it froze quite many times when switching between datamoshing functions, and the interface is rather tiring to work with.
