Info updated on:

GitEye is an Eclipse-based Git desktop client intended to facilitate software development. In this respect, it supports carrying on various tasks like agile planning, code reviews, defect tracking and app building. Moreover, it integrates with such services as CloudForge, TeamForge, GitHub and Gerrit so that you can easily clone and manage your Git projects. Regrettably, this product’s documentation is not well structure and lacks a lot of necessary details.

The app’s graphic user interface helps you navigate through its different features thanks to the use of multiple tabs. It is a good idea to start your work from the Dashboard tab, which gives you access to common Git actions. For instance, it allows creating repositories from scratch. Likewise, it lets you clone Cloud repositories or add local ones. Moreover, you can go straight to Settings to configure the Git and SSG clients as well as update the application.

The panel on the left has two tabs. The first shows a tree view of the Git repositories while the second lets you browse CollabNet sites. In addition, you can manage Git files and view history. Similarly, it is possible to access a task list, where you can plan future actions. The Builds tab, in turn, lets you provide the information necessary to validate the server.

GitEye integrates seamlessly with other tools. In this regard, it is possible to assign shortcuts that let you run third-party tools without needing to leave GitEye. Moreover, since it is Eclipse-based, the application supports GitHub through the corresponding plugin. more
