Flutter enables the use of hand gestures to control music and videos via the built-in webcam in your computer. We hated using the keyboard and mouse for controlling music in the background or watching movies on our computers from a few feet away. So we decided to solve this problem..
It works with Spotify, iTunes, Rdio, MPlayerX (most recent version), Quicktime, VLC (more recent version), Ecoute, Keynote, YouTube, Netflix, Pandora, and Grooveshark.
Currently it only allows you to play, pause, and skip songs and videos but future gestures are planned.Flutter is a movement recognition tool that will allow you to perform certain actions (Play/Pause) on iTunes, Spotify, VLC and Quicktime. This ingenious application is capable of interpreting the hand gesture you make in front of your webcam as play or pause commands for the mentioned applications. I like Flutter because it can be operated in a simple and effective manner. Just hold your hand in front of the webcam and, depending on the selected application, you will be able to pause or play a certain multimedia item. The range in which Flutter is capable of recognizing the hand gesture is from 1 to 6 feet thus it enables you to use it even from your bed. I was pleasantly surprised that it actually works even further than 6 feet but it has a small delay. Flutter will also automatically switch from one application to another depending on which one is currently selected.
I would have liked Flutter even more if it would allow the user to skip to the next item from the playlist or configure the hand gestures but as it is an Alpha version it can't be imputed. I hope that in the future Flutter will keep improving and allow a wider range of actions as well as supported applications since it seems to be very promising.
In conclusion, Flutter is an amazing tool that lets you play or pause items in certain applications. I would recommend this application since it does what it supposed to without a glitch, even if it is in Alpha stage of development.
