Optimize data sharing and transferring on your Mac. Establish a wireless connection to iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices. Configure the Wi-Fi connection for accessing the selected drives and migrating individual files, service data, archives, previous downloads, etc.

File Storage Companion is a Mac and Windows application that allows you to transfer files from and to your iOS and Android devices over your home wireless network. The Companion apps are free. However, you have to buy the application for your phone to be able to use it. The Android app is $2.36 and the iOS app sells for $4.99.

Once both the client and the server applications are installed, using File Storage is a breeze. The devices will be listed on a small window, and you can simply drag and drop the files or folders that you want to transfer. This is perhaps the best thing about the application; it does not require any configuration. There aren't many options to change either. From the Preferences window, you can only set the folder where you want the files to be saved when downloading from a device.

Most of the interesting features for this service happen on the side of the iOS or Android device. In the case of iOS, this app comes with a built-in viewer that lets you open many common files like photos, documents, etc. Android already has a viewer available to all apps so that is not a big deal on the Android app. Maybe that is the reason why the iOS version is more expensive. The apps also let you browse your Dropbox files without having to leave File Storage, which is a nice touch.
