DiskGraph helps you optimize the use of the available storage capacity. The tool supports scanning and presenting disk usage for a given directory, regardless it is on your local disks, an external device or a remote machine. Its main advantage is that you can view and browse all the data in a graphical way. Even though the app is quite easy to use, it is good to know there is help documentation available online.

Logically, the first step is to open the desired volume or folder, which you can do from the File menu or by dragging and dropping the desired element onto the app’s window. Regrettably, unlike other similar tools, Disk Graph does not automatically show the available drives, which you can compensate by adding them to your list of favorite directories.

The application performs the initial scanning quite quickly; still, it is logical that the time it takes depends on the size of the container chosen. At this point, you may be prompted to authorize access to different types of private data, such as photographs and contacts. The results are shown as circles and you can set how many levels (up to 18) are shown. Likewise, it is possible to use three different sorting criteria: File Size, Allocated File Size and Child Count.

Luckily, the graphs are interactive and the report is very exhaustive. Thus, by clicking on a section, you can open the corresponding container or file. Additionally, you can search for a specific item from the built-in feature. Moreover, if you need to go back, you can use the breadcrumbs on top of the window or the Open Enclosing Folder from the right-click menu. However, I wished there was something like a Go Back button. Also, by using the contextual menu, you can easily move a specific file or folder to Trash.

All in all, I have no doubt Disk Graph is a great choice when it comes to managing storage space. It performs fast scans, shows results in a friendly manner and lets you erase items without leaving the app. The product is available from the Mac Store at a very reasonable price.
