Current Tunes is an application that lets you see what song is playing in iTunes. If you listen to music on iTunes a lot, you probably are tired of switching back to it simply to check the name of the song that is playing. Current Tunes attempts to solve this problem by putting the name of the song on your screen at all times. The app also lets you control iTunes via a small control panel that appears when you move your mouse over the name of the song. This panel lets you pause and resume playback, go to the next or previous song, quit the application (not iTunes) and rate the song currently playing.

On my Mac, the text overlay that tells you what song is playing was initially located around the middle of the screen and I could click and drag on it to move it around. The text overlay will be visible as long as the application is running, and there is no way to make it disappear after a while. The only way to get rid of it is to close the application.

In my testing, this application worked as advertised. It promptly changed the name of the song being played whenever a new song started playing and the controls work well. My only complain is that there aren't any customization options.
