ClamXav is a program that keeps your computer virus-free by removing any Windows or Mac threats from your drives. This application uses the open source ClamAV antivirus engine that can quickly and easily find and erase any malware or malicious threats from your local folders.
Before scanning any folder or drive for viruses, you need to install the aforementioned engine on your computer and download new virus definitions. Afterwards, you can select a directory within your Mac and scan it for malicious or malware threats.

It also needs to be manually configured to protect the specific parts of your Mac you want shielded and newbies would find this difficult to set up correctly for maximum protection. And even if this was done correctly, it would only provide very poor protection against Mac Malware.
