Mac OS X provides you with default file managers for your music and pictures collections - iTunes and Photos (until 2015 it was named iPhoto, but now its name is Photos and is introduced in Mac OS X Yosemite+). You can use this program to organize your movie collection based on their type (documentaries, trailers, music videos, etc.) or certain technical details, like resolution, video codec, and so on. Cinematica is very simple to use, works with many video formats, and lets you immediately launch clips directly from its interface into your default video player. Also, if you install the plug-ins available in the Preferences panel, you can import additional video formats.
