AccuPix is a Mac utility that helps you identify color codes of any shade within your desktop. The application stays on your Menu Bar from where you can select the type of code you need, check the colors you picked earlier, and activate the shade picking tool.

After you launch the program on your Mac a new icon will appear on your Menu Bar. All you need to do is click this icon and you can start picking colors from your screen. Every time you click on an area on your desktop, the application identifies the code of the color underneath your mouse cursor and automatically copies it to your clipboard.

The utility provides you with accurate shade codes which you can use in your CSS3, Xcode or Android projects.

The one thing that bothers me about this program is the fact that I can't quit it. I click the Quit button from its main menu and nothing happens. Also, Mac's default utility called Force Quit doesn't show you AccuPix in its main window. So, the only way to shut down AccuPix is to restart your Mac.

To conclude, you can find better solutions for identifying color codes on your computer. Mac App Store gives you access to dozens of free color picking utilities that let you choose from many output profiles and are very simple to handle.
