Just no

I wanted a reasonable alternative to Microsoft RDP, which is acceptable, but does some dumb things. I don't know what happened to Parallels, who used to make decent stuff. This app starts up, says "no connections: cancel, import, or open?" you click "import" the dialog goes away and nothing happens. I guess that's your only chance, because the File menu is "Import Settings"?

Ok. File > New Connection. Get what look like buttons, but you have to click the text in the "button" specifically. "Standard RDP" - oh look the next dialog. The top 1/4-1/3 of which is plastered with a bright red and completey unnecessary "|| Parallels(r)" logo.

That's why I quit paying for and using Parallels Desktop VM. The app - that I paid full price for - would not stop trying to hard sell add-ons and upgrades. It's a better product for Mac than VBox or VMWare, but way too pushy. This "Parallels Client"? Just no. Microsoft's RDP client is less obnoxious.

Superior to Microsoft RDP but has minor issues

I really do like this app a lot. It gives you better control over your remote desktop experience compared to the Misrosoft RDP app but this one still has some minor issues you should be aware of. The most annoying issue currently is that when you are in a full screen remote session, the Parallels client seems to enable Do Not Disturb on the Mac side so you do not receive any of your notifications. It is a neat feature I suppose but should not be the default and you should be able to turn it off. i have confirmed nothing like this happens when I am in full screen using the Microsoft RDP app. That aside, while Parallels still doesn't let you stop the menu bar and dock from showing up when you hover the mouse at the top and bottom of the screen, they have built in some kind of handling that makes it a lot more workable than any other RDP client out there. I think it is just more of a delay but it makes it a non issue whereas on Microsoft RDP, Jump Desktop, Royal TSX, etc. all have the constant problem of inadvertantly triggering the menu bar and dock making it much harder to work.

Peds clinic ,

please stop asking for access to my camera!

Recent update enables access to camera, however if you don't want to give it access it will keep nagging you to give it access every singel time it connects - even if just plugging a monitor in. Please allow us to turn off camera access so it stops the constant nagging! Issue is compounded by Parallels needing to constantly reconnect because it crashes a lot, all in all not a well polished app.
